JAA Discounts: A Boon for Motorists

By February 1, 2011No Comments
Knowing that you can save as much as 20 percent on auto parts and services at leading auto shops means a world of comfort to motor vehicle owners in these challenging financial times.
By simply showing your Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) membership card at any of the motor club’s automotive partners, including Toyota Jamaica and BMW specialists, Alrobe Enterprise, motorists can access first class service in addition to substantial discounts.
At Toyota Jamaica Limited, on Spanish Town Road, Kingston 11, customers can receive discounts on several items available across the counter, which include many of the more than 10,000 Toyota and Daihatsu line items in stock.
“Not everything is discounted, but we try to facilitate our customers as much as possible; and the cost for some items is negotiable, depending on the quantities being purchased,” says Christopher Clarke, Parts and Accessories Manager at Toyota Jamaica Limited. He noted that while the company has not yet documented the response from customers, it is clear they are enjoying the discounts gained from the programme, based on the significant increase in sales, resulting from the partnership with the JAA over the past year.
“The number of sales we have made to persons with JAA membership is quite impressive. The programme is successful and we would hope that it will continue,” an elated Mr. Clarke said.
The company, which dominates the new car industry with some 30% market share, also receives heavy demand from used car owners who have been taking advantage of the saving opportunities provided at Toyota Jamaica.
“What we sell are the authentic parts,” Mr. Clarke reminds motorists. “And, when you buy an item from us you are purchasing something that is durable, reliable and value for money.”
He said the company would be stepping up its promotion of the discount services available to customers, “because although sales increased, we are sure we could get a lot more from it if there was more visibility.”
Discounts are also available to owners of high-end European vehicles too. BMW and other European car specialists, Alrobe Enterprises, offer up to 15 percent off on many of its parts and services, although their prices are already competitive.“We have a discount on almost everything,” says Reo Dockery, Services Manager at Alrobe Enterprise located at 31 Karam Avenue, off Constant Spring Road, in St. Andrew.
“As long as you present your card, you can save.”  The discounts vary. By showing a JAA card, motorists can access 10 percent on all services; however, discounts on auto parts depend on the part being purchased.

“For example, there is a 5 percent discount on air conditioning parts and there is a 10 percent discount on braking systems,” says Mr. Dockery, “So the discounts vary.”

The company, which started a partnership with international automotive and industrial parts makers, Bosch, a year ago, offers authentic parts that are often not available from other automotive dealers.

“We supply all parts and are possibly one of the only dealers that can offer you a warranty on some of the parts you purchase. And, the quality of our parts is backed by our partnership with the main BMW business in Germany,” Mr. Dockery assures.

“Knowing that you can save a buck when purchasing parts or services means a lot; and, 10 percent on motor vehicle parts is a lot money!” Mr. Dockery underscores. He also stated that the programme needed more promotion so that more customers can benefit.
