A selection of the used vehicles that were on display for sale at Used Car Flea Market held last year as part of the Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) Autofest auto fair. More than 10 used cars were sold at last year’s event. Autofest 2012 will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the JAA’s 7Central Avenue Headquarters, Swallowfield.

If you want the best deal for the sale or purchase of a used car in June, then the place to be is at the JAA Autofest, according to the Jamaica Automobile Association. The Used Car Flea Market will be staged at the JAA’s headquarters, 7 Central Avenue, Swallowfield, Kingston, on Saturday, June 2.

General Manager, Duane Ellis, said the concept, introduced at last year’s Autofest event, was very successful, and resulted in the sale of more than ten vehicles.

“We facilitated sales by providing both buyers and seller a neutral and secure space in which they could conduct business, while providing access to vehicle care and insurance services,” Mr. Ellis stated. The one-day Used Car Flea Market will be a unique opportunity for buyers and sellers of used vehicles to meet, and conduct business, as well as finalise sales on the spot.

Autofest is being held under the theme, “Car Care for Safe Motoring,” and is a collaboration between the JAA and the Insurance Association of Jamaica (IAJ). Mr. Ellis explained that “The representatives of all major insurance companies will be present to provide general advice and quotes on insurance products and services to potential buyers of used motor vehicles.”

The Flea Market will also allow car owners to showcase their vehicles to the more than 1000 patrons anticipated to participate in the Autofest. “This is a real opportunity for those who may have a vehicle that they want to sell, and have not yet been able to dispose of it,” he stated.

In addition, trained technicians will be on hand to conduct vehicle diagnostic checks and provide advice on vehicle care.  Patrons of the Autofest will also have access to complimentary services, such as vehicle inspections, valuations and diagnostics; as well as, washes and general cleaning.

Persons who want to sell a motor vehicle at the Flea Market should arrive at the JAA Central Avenue Headquarters no later than 9:00 a.m. on June 2. “This will allow us to register participants and enable an orderly and organised process for both sellers and potential buyers,” he said.
