The Replacement Driver service has proven to be useful especially for persons who wish to take trips to places outside of the Corporate Area.

If you have grown weary of slogging through heavy traffic, or, do not welcome the strain of a long-haul trip to the country, the idea of a “Replacement Driver” may seem inviting.

The Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) took these and other challenges that motorists face into   consideration; and developed its Replacement Driver Programme, in which clients can be transported to their desired destination by Certified and Trained JAA drivers, using their own motor vehicle, or a JAA vehicle, to any location in Jamaica.

Duane Ellis, General Manager of the JAA, says the service has proven to be useful “especially for persons who wish to take trips to places outside of the Corporate Area that they are unfamiliar with, or are not comfortable driving cross country on their own.”

This service is not exclusive to JAA members; but, is open to anyone, corporate entities and organisations, in eight-hour blocks of time, at a competitive rate.

“We can also provide “replacement drivers” for companies or organisations with fleets; or facilitate members of their executive and management team,” Mr Ellis explained.

The JAA is also prepared to accommodate the specific requests of clients who may require the services of a replacement driver, in addition to the use of specialised vehicles.

“At the JAA, we have a SUV fleet and larger multi-passenger vehicles, which can be used for a variety of purposes,” he noted, adding that, “clients can choose to use vehicles from the JAA fleet; and, where necessary, to fulfill their dual requirements of a replacement driver and motor vehicle.”

Julie-Ann Burgher, who has been a JAA member for the past five years, is a confirmed user of the service. She used the Replacement Driver Service to chauffeur a group of Canadian visitors around Kingston for three days, travelling in coaster buses provided by the JAA.

“As a member of the JAA, I noticed the coaster buses at the back of their Central Avenue headquarters and enquired about them because of my immediate need,” Miss Burgher explained.

Following her enquiry, she used two replacement drivers; and the buses for a three-day excursion, as well as airport transfers.

“The drivers were extremely courteous, and accommodating and the service was very timely,” she said, adding that, “the vehicles were comfortable and in good condition.”

With the provision of the Replacement Drivers and the buses, she also saved on the cost of renting a vehicle separately. “The service was an exceptional value; and, I would highly recommend it. In fact, I am looking forward to using this JAA service, again,” she affirmed.
